Must-See Excursions Around the Bassin d’Arcachon
The Dune du Pilat
This one needs no introduction! Shaped over centuries, the Dune du Pilat has long been an iconic part of the Gironde landscape. And guess what ? You can visit it all year round !
A timeless classic to discover or revisit as a family, whatever the season. In autumn, the colours change, the atmosphere feels different, and the views over the Bassin, the pine forest and the ocean are just as breathtaking.
Bring a windproof jacket for the summit and get ready for the climb: the view is well worth the effort !
The Teich Bird Reserve
This is probably one of the best ways to combine a lovely walk, wildlife discovery and an educational experience in one outing !
The Teich Bird Reserve is a haven for a wide variety of bird species. In autumn, it welcomes migratory birds travelling from Northern and Eastern Europe to spend the winter here. It’s therefore a wonderful time to spot wildlife and discover the natural treasures of the Bassin d’Arcachon.
During the school holidays, the Maison de la Nature also organises guided tours with binoculars provided, specially designed to introduce children aged 7 to 10 to the birds living in the reserve. A great way to spark their curiosity while enjoying some fresh air !
Who is it for? Children aged 7 to 10, accompanied by an adult.
Price: €13 per child, including binocular hire and one accompanying adult free of charge. Admission to the reserve is valid for the entire day.
